KITCHING STEPS DOWN

The final game of the 2023/2024 season v AFC Winkfield, marked First Team Manager Lee Kitching’s final game in charge.

Lee joined the club as First Team Coach in June 2022, before taking over as Manager shortly after the start of last season. Lee led the team on a fantastic run in the second half of the 2022-2023 season ending in an unforgettable 1-0 win over Yateley United to lift the BTC Senior Cup at Reading FC’s SCL Stadium.

The team finished 6th in the league this term and just failed to return to the SCL Stadium, losing the semi-final to Burghfield.

Chairman Mark Lemm said “Lee stepped into the manager’s role unexpectedly, it made sense as he already had a relationship with the players. The players really responded to his calming presence and tactical nous which resulted in a trophy in his first season. Lee has been a great ambassador for our club and represented our values on and off the pitch. We say goodbye with a lot of sadness but Lee can walk away knowing he has given the players and the club one of their greatest ever days in football.”

Lee is now taking time out of the game to watch and support his 2 sons on their football journey, everyone at Reading YMCA FC hope to see him coaching or managing again in the future.
